Legal or not, abortion rates similar

Interesting study on abortion laws. Suggests that globally the rate is relatively constant regardless of if it is legal or not. But they also suggest that when it is illegal, the danger for women goes up.

Which is why I hate the pro-life tactic of attacking the women, but not trying to address the other issues. Access to good healthcare, contraceptives and reducing poverty will do more for everyone involved. Certainly more than these "personhood" bills.

Despite my personal feelings regarding abortion, this is one of the main reasons I am reluctantly pro choice. I see no reason to change the status quo.

The statistic you cite should point directly to that very point you make; that regardless of abortion's 'legality,' they are happening at a fairly constant rate. If we want to stop unwanted pregnancies, we can't rely on fear, misinformation, abstinence, punishment and the fucking idiot rhythm method. We have to rely on access to health care, poverty, education and, oh, what's that word...FREEDOM.

Further subjugating women doesn't work. In fact, it appears to have the opposite effect; making them property and forcing decisions on them tends to get them things like raped, killed, or forced into servitude.
