I tried to come up with a snarky witticism to match your post, but I'm just too damn depressed because your post is spot-on.

What's even more depressing is that the Conservative Bible is an actual project. God's inerrant word apparently has a liberal bias.

I wish I could do more than just grieve, what a terrible, spot on post.

Lord, in Your mercy, heal our brokenness in caring for each other as You commanded us.

Yeah, I was rather proud of my rewriting of the Samaritan story, but then found this image. I sent to a few conservative evangelical friends--one of whom responded, "yeah, nice try."

The tribal connection to conservatism is far stronger than any real connection to Jesus. Leighton is right about that, yet again. Their connection is to their conservative friends and family, who happen to go to church with them. But there seems to be little, if any, connection to all of those things that Jesus spoke about.

Facepalm.

I read the page you linked.

I fear for the future.

Here's one of my favorite rationales for this "project::
liberals will oppose this effort, but they will have to read the Bible to criticize this, and that will open their minds

Uh...I have, a whole lot. That's why I think what I think. Because I've read the thing.

People...it's a book. Written over and over and over again by human beings who have an agenda, because we're human. So that they presume that their translation is somehow perfect is hilarious to the point where I can't even laugh about it.

Ah contrare... seems according to Christianity Today Reading the Bible will be more apt to make you more Liberal. And wouldn't that be a kick? :)
