The accusations of sociallism are annoying and seem to be used as a substitute for an actuial argument. I would prefer people discuss specifically what they think is wrong, and there are problems. That being said, I can understand why some poeple would believe that it is "socialist-like", or at least more socialist than we have now. That doesn't mean that it is necessaritly bad, as Anglican points out many public programs that work well or at least work fairly well.
I also recall 8 years of hearing about how much Bush was a fascist and a nazi, some of which came from various Democratic politicians.
