And now realize, thanks to Republicans, that I need to simply worry about myself. For right now, I have decent healthcare insurance. Sure, we could lose it, and be uninsurable, but for now, we are ok. So screw everyone else.
I think I am getting the hang of it.

I was reading Chomsky's The Responsibility of Intellectuals last night, and that's nearly verbatim the argument that Irving Kristol (Bill's father, not surprisingly) put forth in the mid-60s in various journals and such bastions of liberal thought as the New York Times. Since students and professors have their immediate needs taken care of, their complaints about the atrocities of the Vietnam war must be motivated by nothing more than boredom and temper tantrums, and we need not waste our time looking to see if perhaps their accusations have any merit.
I'm glad things have changed so much since then.
