Senate votes to repeal 'don't ask, don't tell"

This is long overdue.

I am also reminded that while the left often gets angry at Obama, we should consider what he has accomplished. Healthcare (pending Republican defunding, of course), banking reform, stimulus that most believed saved the economy from much worse damage, and now an end to discrimination against gays in the military.

This has been long overdue. Grampa McCain' speech was typical baseless fear-mongering, devoid of actual fact and filled instead with superstition. Just like most 24-hour-care nursing home dwellers' speeches.

May God render justice to and withold mercy from every sodomite-loving senator and congressman who voted for this, and from that idiot who is pretending to be president. May God also do the same to every faggot-loving citizen(you streak). May the wrath of God fall on all of you. And it will.

Well, there it is. Such a loving version of Christianity. "If you aren't with me, may God smite you."

May God have mercy on you, Gary. Because we all need mercy.

You thumb your nose at God and insult Him to His face and then expect Him to have mercy on you? You know what you're doing is wrong, yet you do it anyway. God reward you according to your deeds.

Gary, your God is a smiting and angry God. That makes me sad for you, but it is what you seem to prefer. If it makes you feel better to think that he hates me, then so be it.

Seriously. During the Christmas season, may God grant mercy to you. And me. And all of us.

You don't have a clue who God is. That's because you don't believe what God has said about Himself in the Bible. The "god" you believe in is a skirt-wearing sissy wimp who loves everybody and condemns nobody. But that's not who God is.

Ok, Gary. Why are you here? If we worship a different God, then why are you here?

I wish you peace and you wish me damnation? I think you are probably an angry and unhappy person. I hope you find peace.

Smitty, speeches like that make me wonder about the possibility of a maximum age limit for Senators and Congresscritters. I don't know how it could be done without constituting age discrimination. But I like the idea of having some kind of safeguard in place to keep people from running their careers and reputations off the rails when age devours their faculties (never mind the collateral damage to the legislative process when senior members become physically unable to engage reality).

Hm. Gary better check on which side those Sodmite loving Senators are, since the ONLY specific place the sin of Sodom is defined exactly is:

Ezekiel 16:49 This was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.

:) Kinda sounds like Republicans, but just sayin... lol

"Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire." Jude 7

I know who the sodomite lovers are. And some of them are republicans, to their shame.

Seriously, aren't there worse things in the bible than gay sex? I just don't get why the evangelical, fundamentalist herd is so worked-up over this particular sin alone, apart from all sin as a whole or even apart from much "bigger" sins. Picking and choosing mortal battlegrounds? Attributing "greater" and "lesser" sins like greater and lesser felonies in a courtroom? Interesting take...where is your outrage about the working poor getting shafted in these last round of tax cuts? Where is your venomous anger about funding elimination of hunger programs for the nation's poor?

May God also do the same to every faggot-loving citizen

So eloquent! I looked around the bible a bit, and caught Jesus in multiple passages indeed loving the otherwise condemned. Oops.

You thumb your nose at God and insult Him to His face

No, just you, Gar.

The "god" you believe in is a skirt-wearing sissy wimp who loves everybody and condemns nobody.

Wait...wait..just a few posts ago, didn't you, Gar, complain to Streak (and us by proxy as Streak's community of apparently extremely condemned people above and beyond all others, which is awesome) about insulting God? And then you, Gar, go and call Him a...how did you put it..."skirt-wearing sissy wimp?"

God's Hammer Gary, 2/18/2010 06:52:00 PM: "You thumb your nose at God and insult Him to His face"

God's Hammer Gary, 12/18/2010 07:01:00 PM: "...god...is a skirt-wearing sissy wimp..."

As Monk notes, a bigger sin is neglecting the poor and the needy. But it is much easier to focus on other people's sexuality. It is a way of expressing righteousness without any cost.

Smitty, Ron Sider wrote an interesting book chronicling his journey from straining gnats and swallowing camels to realizing that the dominant theme in the Bible is concern for the poor. I still think having a sacred text at all is unwise, because it is so easily twisted to serve the needs of sociopaths and con artists. But I have to give Sider credit for actually reading the book he claims is sacred, rather than just using the pages of the gospels as toilet paper.

I actually asked for that book on my CHristmas list! I really hope I get it.

Back on topic...

A bunch of my lefty friends regularly condemned Obama for not issuing an executive order eliminating DADT. Instead, Obama waited for a permanent fix instead of letting the legislature off the hook. To the lefties I say: I told you so...

Back to Fairy-hating Gary...

I will bet that Gary's outrage does not impact him at all, because he never served in the military. Just a guess, but its seems most guys I know in the military don't give a shit about gay guys serving.
