Don't tell me the NRA political people are reasonable

As Senate Prepares To Take Up Background Checks, NRA Warns Of Outright Gun Confiscation | ThinkProgress

They are, as my friend Steve said in a different context, assbags.  Unfortunately, adult gun owners seem to defend this shit.

Good point. It isn't as if several states have done confiscations and that DiFi hasn't suggested it on more than one occasion. Politically, there are not enough votes for confiscation, but suggesting that it could never happen or that some people don't want it to happen is just naive.

That article includes several factual errors, including the notion that the Supreme Court has said that confiscations are unconstitutional. Heller did not deal with a confiscation. An outright ban on all guns with confiscation would likely be unconstitutional, but a smaller ban would not. There are already laws in place that ban certain guns and make any of them contraband.

Another lazy article from Think Progress. They need to remove Think from their title unless facts don't matter. Weren't you the one that said people are entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts.

As for the background checks, I still fail to see how this law will make people safer. Criminals will ignore it, as they have already been ignoring the laws prohibiting them from acquiring guns and people that are going to do something bad aren't going to show up in some Nostradamus future crime database. How will this even be enforced?

I can always count on you, Steve to excuse any paranoia on the right. Every goddamn time, you will do that. Every time.

Fear on my side? You belittle, deride, put down. Those of us who fear gun owners, and gun culture have no standing in your eyes.

I have the right, written in the US Constitution, to keep and bear arms. Those who want to restrict my rights should beware. I don't like it when people try to take away my rights.

Hey, Steve, guess who agrees with you. You are in some great company. Gee, I hope Gary regales us again on how evil gay people are. That is always great. I bet he thinks the UN is also evil. Of course, he wears a tin foil hat. Probably too paranoid for the NRA, but not by much.

steves said...

You are just paranoid. Add you to the list of people that shouldn't own guns.

Anyone who wants a gun has the right to own one. Or as many as they want to buy, including ammunition. All of the laws restricting gun ownership, or the freedom to carry, either openly or concealed, are unconstitutional. Every elected official who swore to uphold the Constitution violates their oath every time they do anything that restricts gun or ammunition ownership or carry.

Gary, are you an NRA member?

Anonymous said...

Streak, not at this moment.

steves said...

You should be if this is an issue that you care about.

Steve, you are speaking to a homophobic troll. This is part of the problem. No nutjob is too nutjobby for the NRA, I guess.

Gary said...

Streak,

God is opposed to homosexuals. In your vocabulary, God is "homophobic". You, streak, are immoral. You are for what God is against, and against what God is for. Judgment is coming your way from God. Until then, you could save yourself some problems by not messing with the rights of people to protect themselves.

Gary said...

steves,

I intend to join the NRA.

steves,

I intend to join the NRA."

I imagine this as the next NRA advertisement. I might send it to them as a suggestion (except for the fact that I would prefer the NRA not know I exist).

Having a larger membership makes them more influential and gives them more money. Heck, the NRA would probably let you join. Gary could join the Democratic Party, so I guess no nutjob is too nutjobby for them, either. Michael Moore had joined at one time. I can join almost any organization and become a member. Can you show me any one that does background checks?

Streak said...

There are times when you explain things like you think I really don't understand. Of course, I realize that more membership means more influence and more money. Somehow I am too stupid to figure out why LaPierre acts like the whore he is?

Of course Gary can join whatever organization he wants. I get that too. Again, not an idiot. My point, however, was that the NRA has decided that extremism and paranoia are good things. You have yet to even acknowledge that your organization encourages anti-social behavior--unless you can convince me that paranoia and fear are social goods.

The point isn't the homophobic troll. The point is that you seem to really not get my or Smitty's point that the grownups need to stand up against this shit. That, or you aren't the grownup you appear.

Streak,

Go to Hell. I don't care what you think. I don't care what you want. I know what my rights are, and I will not allow you, or obama, or anyone else to restrict my rights. Do you understand? Or do you need to be shown?

It's as if Jesus himself were speaking words of grace...

There's your potential NRA member, Steve. Enjoy.
