This is not good. And it is very related to this creation stuff. Wouldn't that be ironic? American Christians who think that God has blessed our country because of our wealth and technology undermining the very science that creates much of that?

Why would someone put so much time and energy into math or science when they won't have friends or get a date because they're "nerds". There's more money in being a football player or basketball player or baseball player. It's not just creationists that are killing our scientific edge. We have an anti-intellectual culture that denigrates anyone who uses their minds. Anyone who is interested in these fields aren't going to spend their lives as indentured servants teaching what they know, they're going to make it pay for them. You want this country to get back on top scientifically get all teachers salaries back up to a living wage. There's little the government can do the change people's perceptions culturally.

It might be easier to mention the lessons of September 11 or terrorists.

What's really not good is that these eminent, intellectual scientists don't know HOW TO SPELL. The word is "lose," not "loose."
