It is certainly possible, but I have also run into to many people that accuse others of projection when they want to avoid whatever it is they were accused of. I would also argue that almost all people 'project' at some point it time. I have caught myself on occasion.
FWIW, projection isn't found in the DSM-IV (I know that you dodn't say it was, TPM did).
I didn't mean to imply that projection is some kind of mental disease. Only that this is an amazing example. Obama has been the cool cat in this conversation, and it has been McCain who has gotten angry.
