On some things, we have made some progress...

I hope. Here is a sexist commercial from the past courtesy of Boing Boing.

Now come on. If her coffee was that bad, something needed to be done. He needed to exert some kind of manhood. I mean, it is coffee for crying out loud!

You are so right, Tony. After all, expecting him to figure something out in the kitchen is just ridiculous...

Though, I have to say, SOF does make the coffee in our house. Not an issue of domesticity as much as consistency. She remembers how many scoops, whereas I used to just keep dumping in until it looked full.

I thought you would see the humor in my comment. After publishing, I was worried you might take me to task. :)

Nevertheless, we men need to stick together where our coffee is concerned. I feel a Tarzan yell or something like that coming on.

You guys disappoint me. Three comments deep and nobody suggests that the coffee did not improve until she became suitably submissive to her husband, who is after all, the rightful head of the home and family?!

Such slips will not be tolerated in the future. Why the girls at the office would have picked up on that right away . . .

Wonder what the girls at the office would think of this?

Maybe we thought those comments would be too obvious.

The real tragedy here is the notion that instant coffee is any any way better than brewed.

Not an issue of domesticity as much as consistency. Sure, Streak, whatever, Not to mention treatment for second degree burns as soon as "well, so's your coffee" escaped your lips:-). Or, am I thinking of my house?

Anyway, grunting and beating the chest aside, I showed this video to two of my employees who are female and in their 20's. I asked them what they thought of it and both responded that it was "weird" that it was a real commercial and that it was more like watching an old movie than a commercial that was aired without any repercussions to the network or the advertiser. It was too far outside their reality to even offend them. So, maybe that's an indication of some progress.

She just took over the coffee making at some point and the consistent quality has been there ever since. Not that I don't make coffee, mind you, but hers is better.
