For my racist fundy trolls

From The New Yorker this poignant image reminds us that when we talk about Islam and Muslims, it is not we (non-Muslims) v. them (Muslims), but rather us (hopefully peaceful and compassionate people of all faiths) v. them (extremist terrorist and hate-filled racists).

I have been unable to locate as of yet how many Muslims are interred at Arlington National Cemetery. This picture makes 1, yet I am sure there are thousands more.

This gentleman's name means "Most Excellent." Purple Heart and Bronze Star? He was no slouch. Those don't get handed-out like candy.

That is a touching picture.

Streak,

First, you use the United States' religious freedoms against itself.

Now, you use the United States' military against itself.

You really do hate America don't you?

:) Just kidding of course.

yeah, this picture tells a lot, doesn't it? I am unsure how the far right makes sense of this soldier giving his life in defense of their freedoms while still badmouthing Muslims. Perhaps the inability to think beyond the Glenn Beck talking point is the problem.

CIL, I am hoping you are having a good day. I know it has been tough in the Wyo family this week.

Had to delete that last idiot. Just couldn't take it. The stupidity burns, it really does. In the racist mind, the sacrifice of this Muslim soldier doesn't count. Nor the deaths of the other Muslim soldiers fighting for this very idiot's concept of freedom. Nor the innocent Muslims who died on 9-11, nor those who work within their faith against extremism.

In the racist idiot mind, all Muslims are evil. And what makes me the angriest is that the Grownup Christian Conservatives and the Grownup Republicans are sitting on their hands while people like Palin and Gingrich urge these idiot racists on.

Something I learned today, there WAS a Mosque (or at least an Islamic prayer center) at Ground Zero.

Seems the 17th floor of one of the twin towers had it.

I wonder if Muslims where praying in it when they died.

Do not despair, Streak, I minister with dozens of young people who reject the politics and narrow mindedness of their elders, the Faith is changing them, and they are following Christ anew.

There is a wonderful song played by Father Everett during Mass one day by a young man named Todd Agnew called "my Jesus" I include a quote from those lyrics:

Which Jesus do you follow?
Which Jesus do you serve?
If Ephesians says to imitate Christ
Then why do you look so much like the world?

Cause my Jesus bled and died
He spent His time with thieves and liars
He loved the poor and accosted the arrogant
So which one do you want to be?

Blessed are the poor in spirit
Or do we pray to be blessed with the wealth of this land
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness
Or do we ache for another taste of this world of shifting sand

Cause my Jesus bled and died for my sins
He spent His time with thieves and sluts and liars
He loved the poor and accosted the rich
So which one do you want to be?

Who is this that you follow
