“This may be the worst security flaw we have seen in touch screen voting machines,” says Open Voting Foundation president, Alan Dechert. Upon examining the inner workings of one of the most popular paperless touch screen voting machines used in public elections in the United States, it has been determined that with the flip of a single switch inside, the machine can behave in a completely different manner compared to the tested and certified version.
“Diebold has made the testing and certification process practically irrelevant,” according to Dechert. “If you have access to these machines and you want to rig an election, anything is possible with the Diebold TS -- and it could be done without leaving a trace. All you need is a screwdriver.” This model does not produce a voter verified paper trail so there is no way to check if the voter’s choices are accurately reflected in the tabulation.
This is the Republican version of democracy. Shame on all of you.

This is a lot more scary than dangling chads.
You know, it's mostly because we just won't take the time to understand each other. And, I don't mean just Christians. It's just that as a Christian American, I can see that our voices are just louder than everybody elses. And, bless our hearts, we just want everybody to see things our way.
I was looking at a new state quarter today and trying to explain to my 5 year old grandaughter about the differences between the quarters but also point out that there were a lot of similarities also. She quickly pointed out the words "In God We Trust" as being similar on all the coins.
When I asked her what that phrase meant she started repeating her Sunday school lessons about Jesus and God. I couldn't help but wonder how an Hindu American, or Buddist American, or even a Muslim American child would explain what that phrase means to them to their grandfathers.
That is really what our nation is about. Or, at least I wish that was what America was about. "In God We Trust" is not an exclusive property for just one of the dozens of faiths represented by all Americans.
My grandaughter begins kindergarten in a few weeks. I hope to take her some times to give her mom a break. When I do, I hope that they are teaching them the Pledge of Allegiance. I want to stand there with my grandaughter, side by side with other parents and grandparents who could be Hindu, Buddist, Muslim, or any other faith and blend my voice with their voices when we recite... "One Nation under God." And, my heart will swell with patriotic pride that we are all pledging allegiance to the same flag. And, we are all expressing it from the perspective of our own unique faith. And, that we do not have to be afraid of that diversity.
If we could just stop dividing. And, I am ashamed to admit that Christians are as bad as they come about spliting and dividing over just about anything. I read once where the Christian army is the only army in the world that shoots its own wounded. We spend so much time and energy being upset over things that divide us, and completely ignore the vast areas of discussion that we can all agree on.
Well, I'm rambling now. I hate it when I don't plan out what I want to write or say!
