Bush's the One - By Bruce Reed - Slate Magazine: "In a remarkable historical coincidence, those same two records that were under assault in 1974 are on the ropes again in 2007. The sports world is already dreading the day Barry Bonds will pass Aaron. But the political world has scarcely noticed another milestone in the making: With 66% disapproval in this week's Gallup Poll, George W. Bush just tied Richard Nixon as the second-most unpopular president ever."

That is funny. Good post. It seems, unfortunately, that Bonds will cheat his way past Aaron against Aaron's old team - the Atlanta Braves. The Giants have a homestand against the Dodgers this weekend and then are on a lengthy roadtrip next week. They return to the Bay Area on July 23 or 24 to play Atlanta.
What galls me is that ESPN and other hacks treat this as a legitimate chase, as if the beef 'roids that he injected in his body did not contribute to his career longevity and the number of home runs he hit. I understand why SF radio cheers for Barry - I believe the sports station is part owner of the Giants (if I am wrong I can retract this). But, for ESPN and others to treat this as legitimate is, I believe unethical. Unless you think that at the age of forty, your feet and head size will grow for natural reasons.
CIL, I assume you are more up on this than me. Everywhere I turn, I see people talking about how few people care about this race.

I have heard of heads growing bigger (ego-wise) but the feet thing is new. :) Wasn't there something about Roger Clemens having loose teeth or something? Did I imagine that?
