remember when she seemed like the sane one?

But Laura Bush is quoting the party line: "I'd like to see the media get a little bit more balanced in view of it..."

And as they note at Crooks and Liars, we should get used to this. It will continue to be the Republican mantra. Just as they explained Vietnam as lost by the media and the liberals, this one will take the same course. The fact that Bush had control of everything he needed for the first 3+ years of the war will be minimized. This is their war--they started it.

Bush has had no greater friend than the media during his admin. He just needs to go back and watch some of the super-hyped coverage of the war and WMDs. So much so that I stopped watching any mainstream news. To start to suggest it's the media that have caused them problems is laughable. What Bush doesn't realize is that just having a camera turned on him eventually provides plenty of embarassing footage. Later-BB

Ever watch David Letterman? He's got a great sketch he plays a few times a week after his monologue called "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches". First, a clip of "All we have to fear is fear itself" speech. Next, a clip of JFK "Ask not..." speech. Finally, a recent clip of Bush embarrassing himself on camera babbling something barely intelligible. It's priceless!

Hey volfan, why are you insulting my guests?

I have a Master's Degree and a full time, well paying job in the computer industry. So I'm not allowed to watch late night talk shows without being labeled immature? It's a funny bit, and many Republicans I know who watch it think it is absolutely hysterical.

Volfan- No worries. In order to be offended I would have to take you more seriously than I do. Most of your online etiquette and comments do, however, remind me of my junior high years when life was packaged into neat and narrow position statements. Ahhh, I'm waxing nostalgic- "When I was a child...." Salaam- BB

volfan, this is a good example of where you don't think very well. Reread BB and Joe's posts and tell me that a junior high person could express themselves that clearly. In fact, read anything they have written and say that. It is you who writes in a junior high version--both in style and in substance. But we know you aren't that young.

Just because we mock this president, of course, doesn't mean that we find it funny. The American people elected an idiot who took us into an unbelievable war--one that his own father thought was a terrible idea. This President is a joke, yes. But not very funny. Certainly not for the Iraqi people.

sigh.
