Memorial day

Some 4,081 gone in Iraq, plus those from Afghanistan, and those servicemen and women who will suffer from this war for the rest of their lives.

Politico.com has an interesting take on the Hillary RFK comments (echoing what Steve said in our comments) about her thoughtless words being taken out of context.

I see their point, but really felt horrible when I heard what she said. All of the "timeline" defense from Clinton misses the point that she still raised (several times) the specter of assassination when people are scared of that in this race to begin with.

Clinton's defenders have much to be angry for in this race, or at least some. They can bitch legitimately about the sexist coverage, and the often biased coverage that Clinton received (though the bias obviously also went her way at times, and there was also substantial racism in this race). But this was her fault. She has handled this race pretty badly for the last few months, and an aside (no matter the emphasis on timeline) about political assassination in this race was over the line.

And all you need to know about how insensitive her remarks were is this unbelievable clip from Fox where two people joke about assassinating Obama
"and now we have what ... uh...some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama ...uh..um..Obama [after being prompted by the FNC anchor]....well both if we could [laughing]"
Truly unbelievable.

Have a good Memorial Day.

I wonder if this could be representative of some kind of bloodlust that has been ingrained in Americans' psyches after the past eight years? It seems several people are out for (literal) blood as of late; Ann Coulter, Mike Huckabee, Hillary Clinton, and whoever the lady is in the video.

I never knew that joking around about someone's death was OK.

I agree with Tony, but shouldn't we be blaming videogames or something? Holding ACTUAL leaders accountable, instead of like, Pac-Man or someone, just feels, so, unusual.

Of course, if anything unfortunate were to happen to Ms. Pac-Man that would certainly be, unfortutate, but know that we will be poised at our keyboards ready to fight with those who would deny elementary science.

Or is that what we're talking about? Never mind . .

Not ubub,

I was Ms. Pac Man grand champion in 7th grade.

Wait...what were we talking about?

I think it was American Idol results and flag pins, right?

Or something about gay aborted flag burners who go to Southern Baptist churches. For the life of me I can't remember. Perhaps we should ask the blog administrator to clear this up. Do you think she's around?

The blog administrator can clear this up, "whomever she may be." SOF, we're counting on you to fight for us until we all remember what we were talking about!

You guys are funny. Not as funny as you think, mind you, but funny.

Wow, Tony, Ms Pak Man champion? That explains a lot.

I used the lesser known spelling.

Ms Pakistan Man? Why are you enabling the ghostly terrorists who want to take away our freedoms to eat vaguely round, pixellated snacks?
