Jesus Politics: Roy Moore: 'We Have No Morality Without an Acknowledgment of God'

Kevin has a great comment on Carlos's blog. Evidently Roy Moore is saying that unless we put up his graven images monuments, we can't be moral. Melissa (I don't know her) left a comment, "Faith and Hope is what this country is missing. Too bad this country can't acknowledge God as well as place their faith in him too." I am all for faith and hope and even faith in God, but why are the people saying this the ones who are demonizing the poor and celebrating war? Why are they embracing wealth and watching their president cut funding for disabled poor and veterans?

Anyway, Kevin says it better than me.

Jesus Politics: Roy Moore: 'We Have No Morality Without an Acknowledgment of God' : "The problem is that this lip service is empty and hollow. It doesn’t mean anything to me when George W. acknowledges God with one hand while starving poor people with the other. It doesn’t mean anything to me when the government says in God We Trust yet uses half of its discretionary budget for building up the military. It doesn’t mean anything to me when George W. says he prays and reads the Bible, yet lies through his teeth about reasons for wars, Social Security and just about everything else. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you get to do whatever you want. It means you obey Jesus and follow his teachings, or at least make an effort to do so. It doesn’t mean you get to be a Pharisee. It means you have to actually do something to help the hurting people around you."
