Well, Conservatives, here is what you voted for

Yahoo! News - Senate Votes to Open Alaska Wildlife Refuge to Drilling
: "With the price of crude oil reaching an all-time high, the U.S. Senate narrowly voted today to open a wildlife refuge in Alaska to oil drilling, an approval long sought by President Bush as part of his energy policy."

Let's add this to the list of other things you voted for. 1) budget that favors the rich and hurts the poor, the veterans, and the disabled. 2) air pollution laws that essentially do nothing to reduce global warming or mercury poisoning.

Now this. Been waiting for it. Hard to muster the outrage for this administration that shows such disdain for the environment.

Glad you supported him?

This does not surprise me in the least from the Bush Administration. I posted the following on Jesus Politics some time back, and to my surprise nobody responded positive or negative. This is the same administration that stifled then-chief Christie Whitman about the real hazard level of toxins at Ground Zero post-9-11. I have a friend who works in an environmental testing lab where some samples of air, soil, and even some filters from firemen's masks were sent to identify toxin levels. The results revealed deadly levels of carcinogens, asbestos, and even some contaminents that could not be positively identified! And this was over a month after the attacks! The president of the company wanted to do the right thing and go public with the results. He was threatened by the EPA with the closure of his business if he said anything about the results of the test. Within the next two weeks, the EPA gave a clean bill of health to the areas surrounding Ground Zero, saying it was safe for workers and for people to start walking around and going about their daily business. As we now know, the EPA has been criticized for falsifying test results...and of course, nobody was sanctioned. Whitman did the smart thing and left because she wasn't being allowed to do her job.
Bush and his administration didn't care enough about the workers cleaning up after the worst tragedy on our soil, nor about the residents and employees who inhabited the area on a daily basis. If he didn't show compassion even for them, why the hell would he care about some caribou and musk ox in one of this nation's most pristene nature reserves? The man makes me sick.
