I hate it when I am right

Dobson Statement On Foleygate: No Mention Of House Leadership | TPMCafe: "From Focus on the Family:
Colorado Springs, Colo. -- Focus on the Family Action Senior Vice President of Government and Public Policy Tom Minnery issued the following statement today about the scandal involving ex-Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla:

"This is not a time to be talking about politics, but about the well-being of those boys who appear to have been victimized by Rep. Foley. If he is indeed guilty of what he is accused of, it is right that he resigned and that authorities are looking into whether criminal charges are warranted.

"This is yet another sad example of our society's oversexualization, especially as it affects the Internet, and the damage it does to all who get caught in its grasp."

As Paul Krugman noted today, in February 2001, Dobson wrote the following about Bill Clinton:

"When assessing the legacy of Bill Clinton, we can't overlook his shameful sexual behavior in the Oval Office, and then, his lies under oath to the American people to cover it up. Indeed, it is my belief that no man has ever done more to debase the presidency or to undermine our Constitution -- and particularly the moral and biblical principles upon which it is based -- than has William Jefferson Clinton."

See, it is the Internets fault? But those who abetted this man? Dobson, the great moral man himself? No time to get involved in politics. Instead, let's blame the Internet and possibly Hollywood.

Sigh

I see where you're coming from...no need to get involved in politics...if I say this is not what I'm doing then everyone will believe me.

Do you mind if I borrow one of your lines?

Sigh.

Unbelievable. Then again, Dobson's is divorced and he hasn't acknowledged that in public either.

Oops. That should have read: Then again, Dobson's son is divorced and he hasn't acknowledged that in public either.

This is one of those situations that reminds us that power is corrupting and so is fame. Dobson, in my mind, never addressed the demons of his own youth and childhood, and instead focussed his judgement on others. But even if he did some good work as a psychologist in his career, he clearly has become far more political than Christian.

To their credit, several conservatives have called for Hastert's resignation in the aftermath of this scandal.

I hope that conservative Christians remember how they responded to Clinton's escapades, and immoral as hell, at least Clinton messed around with an adult. But the conservative christians trumpeted their disapproval and were right to do so, though their ranking of sins, even then, appeared out of wack.

Streak,

A question for wasp, if I may, what does Dobson's son being divorced and this issue have to do with one another?
