Bush says he is a lot like Putin

Well, kind of:
"As you know, Putin's a straightforward, pretty tough character when it comes to his interests. Well, so am I."
But even in context it makes the man look as dumb as a bag of hammers.

In the comments of the last post, Leighton pointed out the obvious--that John "Sidney" McCain is a "closet Australian." I am not sure how I missed it before. Nearly endorsed by Australia's former Prime Minister, Alexander Downer, and liked by Australian conservatives everywhere, and seen here auditioning for "Crocodile Dundee 3"

It was only a matter of time before we put the pieces together. It is now clear that if we elect McCain President, it will only be a matter of time before the NFL is replaced with Australian-rules Football, Budweiser is replaced by Fosters (ok, that is an improvement) and "Waltzing Matilda" becomes our national anthem. Be afraid--be very afraid.

And finally, a nice little thank you to the feminists of the past who have created a world where young women can aim for any profession. And I agree.

Btw, I mentioned listening to Bush and my friend Mary slammed her finger in her mini-van door just to get me to stop.

So don't tell me that Bush hasn't caused problems.

Because he has.

I'm tellin ya, we need a president who will wrastle gators, not one who's reportedly afraid of horses.

True story -- but the pain of listening to the Resident on the radio soon made the smashed finger seem inconsequential. It was the next sentence, after the one you quoted: "You know, we've had some head-butts. Diplomatic head-butts."

Indeed.

Our cowboy president is afraid of horses?

Mary, I cannot believe I missed that line. "Diplomatic head-butts." Even with 19% approval, the man will not admit that he was completely wrong about Putin.

Tony, don't you remember this one?

Nobody (so far as I know) has ever come out and said that Bush is afraid of horses, but Bush's handlers have never publicized photos of him with a horse, and his ranch apparently doesn't have any at all. Given how much PR mileage Reagan got from the horses at his ranch, it seems odd that Bush wouldn't follow suit without mitigating circumstances. This is, admittedly, an argument from silence.
