He never said Republican patriotism was fake, but rather that some minor things like lapel pins and putting your hand over your heart were not true measures. I think he is taking th ehigh road here and I applaud him for that classy move.
Well, I think pointing out that flag wavers who fail to provide for their own war is actually fake patriotism.
