"The best public servant is the worst one. A thoroughly first-rate man in public service is corrosive. He eats holes in our liberties. The better he is and the longer he stays the greater the danger. If he i an enthusiast—a birhgt-eyed madman who is frantic to make this the finiest government in the world—the black plague is a housepet by comparison."

And second, for those who accuse me of hating Bush so much that I would not recognize a good thing when I see it, let me post this story that suggests that a recent report showing that
"homelessness in the United States decreased by 30 percent between 2005 and 2007."might actually be the result of Bush policy. Seems he appointed a man named Philip Mangano who borrowed from the British to develop a very aggressive policy to get the chronic homeless into some kind of shelter immediately--thus relieving the shelter beds for those in need of short term help. Seems like a really good idea.
See what a government program can do? I sure hope that Bush's people don't realize what he did--screwing up like this and succeeding. /snark
